Kaneville Tree Farms is a wholesale producer of quality, larger-sized shade,
ornamental and evergreen trees. The trees are grown on 14-foot centers and most
are sold at a 4-inch caliper or larger.
The nursery was started in 1975 when Ron Damgaard purchased 240 acres of land in
Kaneville, Illinois, and began lining out shade trees. Today, Kaneville Tree
Farms is located on 300 acres in Kaneville, as well as a second site of
approximately 30 acres in Long Grove, Illinois. Future expansion is planned on
an additional 180 acres in Kaneville.
The Damgaard family got its start in the landscape industry in the 1920s when
Ron's father, Otto Damgaard, immigrated to the United States from Denmark.
After working for the well-known landscape architect Jens Jensen for a number
of years, he started his own landscape contracting business in 1935. In order
to have a ready supply of large, specimen trees to meet the needs of his
company, Otto began planting a few shade tree liners in 1938 in DesPlaines. In
the 1960s, the main nursery was relocated to Long Grove.
Today, Laurie Damgaard (Ron's daughter) and Paul Guzzetta (Ron's son-in-law) are
involved in the operation and management of Kaneville Tree Farms. They hope to
carry on the tradition of high quality and excellent service begun many years
